Compass Group Induction

This is an industry e-learning demonstration developed by William Angliss Institute in association with Compass Group Australia. Compass provides out-sourced catering across a number of sectors including remote mine sites and recognised a need to deliver OHS and Food Hygiene training with centralised record management. Compass Group policy is that all employees must complete the company induction. The delivery of structured induction training has been problematic due to geographical and logistic related challenges associated with the sites, the irregular hours worked by employees, the unpredictability of class sizes and the random nature of demand for this training that characterises the catering and hospitality industries. Our challenge has been to provide creative, practical and cost effective training delivery.

This e-learning demonstration delivers three core units from the Hospitality Training Package:
THHGHSO1B-Follow workplace hygiene procedures
THHCOR03B-Follow health safety and security procedures
THHBKA04B-Clean and maintain kitchen premises

The learning material can be delivered by DVD, Web or iPod with a web-based assessment within a learning management system to track user progress and maintain records of completion. This is also expected to assist with employee awareness of the expected conditions at remote sites, by providing a preview of the site facilities.
