SCADA and MIS - Skills for the future

Australia’s manufacturing and processing industries face strong competition in global markets. Prosperous companies will be those that compete through efficient production and by providing the customer the quality and price they expect in a product. Highly automated production systems are part of the solution. So too are the skilled workforce  that can work with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and manufacturing intelligence systems (MIS).

The industry e-learning demonstration has been developed by the Engineering Employers Association Group Training Scheme (EEAGTS), SAGE Didactic, and River Murray Training (RMT) to help train such a workforce. It uses SAGE Didactic’s HAS200 a highly automated mini-factory, as the basis for a virtual manufacturing and process business called No-Waste Ltd. The e-learning demonstration is being used by SAGE Automation to introduce employees and customers to the concept of SCADA and manufacturing intelligence. EEAGTS promotes the exemplar to their apprentices, host companies in the manufacturing and engineering sector and registered training organisations. RMT will customise sections of the No-Waste demonstration to the specific SCADA systems in use by its clients in the wine and food processing industries.
